Congratulations! We’re so happy you’ve decided to make 2017 the year that you take the necessary steps to have a more beautiful smile. Now there’s only one question to answer—what are the necessary steps? Drs. Peterson and Cammack offer a number of cosmetic dentistry treatments. Two of the most commonly chosen are porcelain veneers and teeth whitening. While there is some overlap in what these procedures accomplish, they are certainly not identical. Dr. Peterson or Dr. Cammack will evaluate your smile and then consult with you in order to make the best recommendation. Whether the choice is porcelain veneers in Lacey or teeth whitening, you can be certain that your smile will be transformed.
Teeth Whitening in Lacey
If all your smile needs to look more attractive is a brightening boost, then teeth whitening will do the trick. Our teeth tend to naturally have a slightly yellow, gray or brown hue. As we age, this can become more noticeable. Add stains from deeply colored foods, beverages and tobacco along with the discoloration that can result from teeth grinding or an injury, and your smile may look dull.
Drs. Peterson and Cammack offer a professional grade take-home kit for whitening. We’ll take impressions of your teeth and make custom fitted mouth trays. All you have to do is fill the trays with the bleaching gel we provide. Then, wear the trays daily for the length of time your Lacey dentist recommends. A whiter smile will be noticeable after one or two treatments, but the greatest results will appear after two weeks.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin sheaths of dental porcelain that Dr. Peterson or Dr. Cammack bonds to the facial side of a tooth. In this way, they are perfect for correcting several smile flaws, including a tooth that is permanently discolored and not receptive to teeth whitening. In addition, veneers can be used to conceal teeth that are chipped, cracked, or broken, as well as some that are misshaped, too small or slightly rotated. If you have any combination of these smile detractors, then your dentist will likely suggest porcelain veneers.
Receiving veneers requires two appointments. At first, you teeth are prepared; a small amount of enamel is gently filed off of each tooth that will have a veneer. This creates a more receptive surface for the bonding compound and ensures that the veneers fit evenly in your mouth. While your permanent veneers are fabricated in the dental lab, we’ll place a temporary set to protect your teeth. Then at your next visit, this set is removed and your new porcelain veneers are bonded into place.
